Little Girl with 'Scary' Scars: KFC Donates $30000 for Medical Bills of Victoria Wilcher Following Discrimination Incident at Fast Food Chain

Ibtimes.com - An unnamed KFC employee asked Victoria Wilcher, 3, and her family to leave the fast food chain in Jackson, Mississippi because the other customers got disturbed with the little girl's scarred face that she got when three pit bulls attacked her. KFC Corp. found out about the incident and decided to conduct an investigation on the reported discrimination.

The incident that happened at KFC was posted last Friday, June 13, on the Facebook page "Victoria's Victories" where a photo of Victoria Wilcher was shared. "Does this look scary to you? Last week at KFC in Jackson MS this precious face was asked to leave because her face scared the other diners," the caption reads. Click HERE to see photo.

The Kentucky.com report revealed that KFC immediately started an investigation on the issue. "As soon as we were notified of this report on Friday, we immediately began an investigation, as this kind of hurtful and disrespectful action would not be tolerated by KFC," spokesman Rick Maynard stated in an email sent to The Associated Press on Sunday, June 15.

The spokesman further added that the company already apologized to Victoria Wilcher's family and assured to give assistance to the little girl. "The company is making a $30,000 donation to assist with her medical bills. The entire KFC family is behind Victoria," Maynard declared.

Kelly Mullins, Victoria's grandmother, recounted the unpleasant incident that happened at the KFC restaurant. According to Mullins, they stopped by the fast food chain to buy mashed potatoes for Victoria after visiting a doctor's office.

Then, the KFC employee approached the family to tell them that they have to leave. "They just told us, they said, 'We have to ask you to leave because her face is disrupting our customers'," Mullins revealed to WAPT-TV.

Victoria's grandmother further shared in the WAPT report that the KFC incident made the little girl hate the way she looks. Kelly Mullins revealed that the right side of Victoria's face is paralyzed and she has a lot of surgeries to go through.

Mullins added that when they now go to a store, Victoria does not want to step out of the car anymore. The little girl does not want to look at herself in the mirror as well. "She's 3 years old and she's embarrassed about what she looks like. She's embarrassed and I hate it because she shouldn't be. It ain't her fault," Mullins shared.

According to the RYOT.org report, Victoria Wilcher survived the attack from three pit bulls last April while staying at her grandfather's home. The attack cost Victoria her right eye, major scars on her face, a broken nose and a broken jaw so the little girl has to use a feeding tube to eat and visit a speech therapist for recovery sessions.

KFC Japan to Start Offering Deep Fried Soup

According to RocketNews24, one of the current items that sits as a “common fixture in Japanese cafes” is a creamy soup corn potage. The result apparently includes KFC launching a deep-fried corn potage fritter, describing their process in a frighteningly nonchalant manner, “We bread the corn potage and cook it to a crisp.”

The deep fried soup will be available for a limited time only at KFC locations across Japan starting September 5th.

Monika Samaan, anak perempuan yang kini berumur 14 tahun itu, mengalami salmonella encephalopathy, semacam penyakit cedera otak yang terkait dengan keracunan makanan, setelah mengkonsumsi menu ayam KFC Twister dari outlet KFC di Sydney, Australia. Kejadian itu terjadi pada Oktober 2005 lalu saat Monika masih berumur 7 tahun.

Beberapa anggota keluarga Monika juga sempat jatuh sakit setelah memakan Twister tersebut. Namun saat itu Monika paling banyak mengkonsumsi Twister tersebut.

Kala itu, Monika mengalami koma. Sebelum dilarikan ke rumah sakit, dia sempat mengalami kejang-kejang. Menurut dokter yang merawatnya, Monika mengalami penurunan kemampuan kognitif dan motorik setelah mengkonsumsi makanan dari KFC tersebut. Hal itulah yang membuatnya menjadi cacat.

Mahkamah Agung (MA) New South Wales hari ini seperti diberitakan AFP, Jumat (27/4/2012) memerintahkan KFC untuk membayar kompensasi tersebut sebagai ganti rugi dan biaya hukum.

Dari hasil investigasi, MA menyimpulkan penyakit Monika memang disebabkan karena keracunan makanan setelah mengkonsumsi ayam KFC. Kondisinya menjadi parah karena Monika terlalu banyak mengkonsumsi ayam yang diduga tidak sehat dan sudah terkontaminasi penyakit tersebut.

Atas putusan MA ini, keluarga Monika sangat lega.

"Monika sekarang sudah besar dan mereka kini kian kesulitan untuk mengangkat dia dan mengurus kebutuhan-kebutuhan dasar dia serta mengasuh adik-adik Monika," kata pengacara keluarga Monika, George Vlahakis.

"Kompensasi yang diperintahkan itu sangat dibutuhkan. KFC sejauh ini bertekad bahwa Monika tidak akan mendapatkan sepeser pun," cetusnya.

Dalam persidangan, Hakim Stephen Rothman juga menyebutkan adanya kelalaian dari karyawan KFC dalam menjalankan prosedur penyiapan makanan yang sehat dan aman.

KFC Cancels Free Chicken Deal After Oprah Promo

LOS ANGELES, May 8 (Reuters) - The Oprah Winfrey-fueled free chicken give-away that caused pandemonium this week at Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants has been canceled due to what the fast-food chain called an "overwhelming response."

Roger Eaton, president of KFC in the United States said restaurants would no longer accept the free coupons for its new grilled chicken meal after Oprah's chat show promotion caused long lines around the nation.

"The lines of customers wanting to redeem their coupons have been out the door and around the block, so we're unable to redeem customer coupons at this time." Eaton said in a statement issued late Thursday.

KFC said millions of Americans had downloaded free coupons after the offer was featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and Web site on Tuesday, driving traffic to levels unseen in the brand's 50-year history.

Eaton apologized to customers for the cancellation of the scheme and said those who already had a coupon could get a rain check form to enable them to use it at a later date.

Winfrey, 55, is regarded as the most influential woman on U.S. television, driving popular opinion in areas such as books, pop culture and even politics through her support for Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

Louisville, Kentucky-based KFC has more than 15,000 outlets in 80 countries around the world, and its corporate parent is Yum! Brands Inc (YUM.N).
