Lenovo juga menerapkan paket khusus yang sama senilai Rp 3,499 juta. Paket tersebut berisi Lenovo S20-30, Microsoft Office 365 Personal seharga Rp 799 ribu dan mouse wireless Microsoft WMM 1850 senilai Rp 250 ribu.

Selain diskon gadget, Jakarta Fair Kemayoran juga menawarkan program menarik di sektor otomotif, seperti potongan harga khusus hingga Rp 50 juta sampai program DP terendah. Termasuk produk-produk fashion juga ikut menghipnotis para shopingers yang datang.

Tablet Slate 7 Lebih Murah dari Nexus 7

Kompas.com - Produsen komputer Hewlett-Packard (HP) ingin serius dalam meraih pangsa pasar di bisnis tablet Android. Tablet Android pertamanya, yakni HP Slate 7, dibanderol dengan harga murah agar dapat bersaing di pasar global.

Setelah diumumkan pada akhir Februari 2013, Slate 7 resmi dijual di kawasan Amerika Serikat sejak akhir April lalu. Tablet ini dibanderol dengan harga 169 dollar AS atau sekitar Rp 1,65 juta. Harganya lebih murah ketimbang Asus Google Nexus 7 yang dihargai 199 dollar AS untuk versi 8GB plus WiFi.

Namun perlu diingat, harga Nexus 7 di Amerika Serikat bisa semurah itu karena diberikan subsidi oleh Google. Sementara di negara lain Google tidak memberi subsidi. Nexus 7 yang masuk pasar Indonesia adalah versi 16GB plus WiFi dan dihargai sekitar Rp 3 juta.

Rentang harga HP Slate 7 ini berarti akan sama dengan tablet Android besutan Asus, MeMo Pad ME172V dan Acer, Iconia B1-A71. Asus Memopad di Indonesia dan Acer Iconia dibanderol Rp 1,7 juta.

Tablet Slate 7 dari HP mengusung desain 7 inci dengan resolusi layar 1.024 x 600 pixel. Ia memakai prosesor dual-core 1,6GHz, RAM 1GB dan memori internal 8GB. Semua itu berjalan dengan sistem operasi Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

Kamera belakangnya mempunyai sensor 3MP dan kamera depan VGA. Ia tidak menyediakan slot SIM card. Konektivitasnya mendukung jaringan WiFi, Bluetooth, dan tersedia slot MicroSD untuk memperluas media penyimpanan data.

Belum diketahui kapan HP akan memasarkan Slate 7 di Indonesia, begitu juga harganya. Di Eropa, produk ini rencananya mulai dipasarkan pada Juni 2013.

1. Selalu Jaga Password Akun Toko Online

Untuk membeli aplikasi di toko online biasanya pengguna harus memasukkan kartu kredit yang dilindungi dalam password di akun. Sebisa mungkin, jangan memberikan password kepada anak Anda dan orang yang Anda kurang percaya.

Di iOS, untuk bisa men-download aplikasi baik berbayar atau free biasanya Apple akan meminta password akun iTunes Anda. Jadi di perangkat ini, orangtua bisa mengontrol dengan ketat aplikasi mana yang bisa disimpan.

Lain halnya dengan Android, pengguna tak perlu membuat akun seperti iTunes -- hanya masuk lewat Gmail. Sehingga men-download aplikasi berbayar atau malah gratis sekalipun tak perlu membutuhkan proteksi password.

Sehingga orangtua yang memberikan perangkat Android kepada anaknya, sebisa mungkin dalam pengawasan ketat.

2. Memanfaatkan Fitur & Aplikasi

Selain memproteksi dengan password, pengguna iOS bisa memanfaatkan fitur yang disebut Restrictions. Fungsinya agar anak tak bisa sembarangan men-download baik gratis ataupun berbayar.

Cara mengaktifkannya:

Setting>General>Restriction>Enable Restrictions, lalu pilih aplikasi atau fitur lain yang 'haram' digunakan.

Di Android, fitur ini memang tak ada. Namun ada dapat memanfaatkan aplikasi pihak ketiga, misalnya aplikasi Kids Safe Mode yang tersedia gratis di Google Play Store.

Nah, di Windows Phone 8 mempunyai fitur bawaan yang sejenis. Namanya Kids Corner, fungsinya adalah mengunci home screen default. Bila Anak anda membuka, yang didapatnya hanya aplikasi yang sudah diatur sebelumnya.

3. Hidupkan Airplane Mode

Bila terpaksa harus meninggalkan Anak anda bersama dengan perangkatnya. Cara yang paling mujarab untuk menghindari sesuatu yang tak diinginkan adalah mematikan fungsi internetnya dengan mengaktifkan Airplane Mode.

Sesuai namanya fitur ini memang dibuat untuk pengguna yang sedang di atas pesawat terbang, namun tetap ingin membuat perangkatnya menyala.

3 Alasan Apple "Pensiunkan" iPad 3

Kompas.com - Apple membuat keputusan yang membuat banyak orang terkejut. Bagaimana tidak, iPad generasi ketiga yang baru berusia 6 bulan, digantikan dengan iPad generasi 4 yang resmi diperkenalkan Selasa, (23/10/2012), di Amerika Serikat.

iPad 3, yang dikenal dengan nama New iPad, diganti dengan iPad 4 yang kini mengusung nama resmi "iPad with Retina Display". Bahkan, di situs web resmi Apple, iPad 3 sudah ditiadakan. Jajaran produk iPad yang ada sekarang hanyalah iPad 2, iPad with Retina Display, dan iPad Mini.

Setidaknya, ada 3 alasan mengapa Apple memperbarui iPad 3. (Untuk mempermudah penyebutan, nama New iPad dan iPad with Retina Display selanjutnya disebut iPad 3 dan iPad 4).

Memperbarui prosesor

iPad 4 menggunakan prosesor A6X, sedangkan iPad 3 memakai A5X. Kedua prosesor ini menggunakan CPU (Central processing unit) dual core, dan GPU (Graphics processing unit) quad core. Selain itu, keduanya juga menggunakan desain SoC (System-on-a-Chip), yang menggabungkan CPU dan GPU dalam die yang sama.

Namun, Apple mengklaim performa A6X lebih cepat dua kali lipat dibanding A5X.

Mengikuti standar Lightning Connector

Perangkat mobile Apple kini memiliki dock konektor standar baru, berukuran 8 pin, dan diberi nama Lightning Connector. Lightning Connector kini digunakan di iPhone 5 dan iPod touch generasi 5.

iPad 3 masih menggunakan dock konektor berukuran 30 pin. Karena itulah, Apple menggantinya dengan iPad 4 yang telah memakai Lightning Connector. Keputusan ini diambil demi menjaga ekosistem perangkat mobile Apple di masa depan.

Memperluas jaringan LTE

Ketika mengumumkan iPad 3 Maret lalu, Apple menginformasikan bahwa iPad 3 hanya mendukung jaringan 4G LTE di Kanada dan Amerika Serikat. Begitu tablet ini mulai dipasarkan, Apple mendapat banyak kritik lantaran pengguna di beberapa negara, termasuk Australia, tidak dapat terkoneksi ke jaringan 4G LTE dari iPad 3 mereka. Apple bahkan dituding membohongi publik Australia.

Belajar dari banyaknya protes ini, Apple nampaknya tak ingin mengecewakan calon pembeli iPad selanjutnya. Apple memperluas dukungan jaringan 4G LTE pada iPad 4, agar tablet ini bisa digunakan di banyak negara.

Inilah 3 alasan mengapa Apple mengambil keputusan yang mungkin mengecewakan sebagian besar pemilik iPad 3. Apple meyakinkan, pihaknya hanya melakukan pembaruan pada 3 komponen di atas. Tak ada perubahan pada spesifikasi perangkat keras lainnya, begitu juga dengan desainnya.

Cacat Produksi, Sony Stop Jualan Tablet Xperia

Detik.com - Sony terpaksa menghentikan penjualan tablet PC Xperia untuk sementara waktu. Tablet Android yang baru sebulan dipasarkan di beberapa negara, diketahui punya cacat produksi di bagian bodinya.

Dilaporkan, Sony menemukan adanya celah antara layar dan casing tablet Xperia sehingga rentan rusak jika terkena air. Padahal, tablet Xperia S diklaim tahan terhadap terjangan air dalam skala tertentu.

Norika Shoji selaku juru bicara Sony menyatakan, cacat tersebut berasal dari proses pembuatan di pabriknya yang berlokasi di China. Belum diiinformasikan kapan Sony akan kembali melanjutkan pemasarannya.

Sony mulai menjual tablet Xperia pada 7 September lalu di Amerika Serikat, yang diikuti Jepang dan kemudian di beberapa negara Eropa. Jumlah penjualannya telah berkisar 100 ribu unit.

Tablet Xperia adalah model lanjutan dari Sony Tablet S. Meski bentuknya sangat mirip, tablet Xperia lebih maju spesifikasinya.

Untuk tablet yang sudah terjual, Sony akan melakukan penarikan (recall) dan memperbaiki perangkat secara gratis. Demikian seperti dikutip detikINET dari Reuters, Jumat (5/10/2012).

Google Perkenalkan Tablet Nexus 7

Kompas.com - Terjawab sudah misteri seputar tablet Android perdana buatan Google.

Sang raksasa mesin pencari ini secara resmi meluncurkan perangkat tablet yang diberi nama Nexus 7 di San Francisco, AS, hari Rabu (27/6/2012) di acara tahunan Google I/O.

Sesuai namanya, Nexus 7 memiliki ukuran layar tujuh inci, lebih kecil dari iPad buatan Apple yang berukuran sekitar 10 inci.

Para analis mengatakan dimensi ini mengisyaratkan Nexus Seven dibuat untuk menyaingi tablet Amazon yang sangat populer, Kindle Fire.

Nexus 7 akan memakai sistem operasi buatan Google Android yang diberi nama Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) dan sepertinya didesain untuk memanfaatkan konten multimedia Google Play.

Langkah Google meluncurkan Nexus 7 dipastikan akan membuat peta persaingan di pasar komputer tablet global makin ketat.

Pekan lalu raksasa perangkat lunak Microsoft memperkenalkan tablet yang diberi nama Surface yang memakai sistem operasi Windows.

Layanan Google

Berbeda dengan Nexus 7, Surface diyakini diproduksi untuk menggerus pasar iPad.

Perangkat keras terbaru Google dibuat oleh Asus dan dilempar ke pasar pertengahan Juli dengan harga 199 dollar AS (sekitar Rp 1,9 juta) untuk yang model 8GB dan 249 dollar AS untuk model 16GB.

Nexus 7 bukan satu-satunya tablet yang menggunakan sistem operasi Android. Sejumlah perusahaan, Samsung dan Sony misalnya, sudah membuat tablet Android.

Namun produk mereka sejauh ini gagal melampaui popularitas iPad atau Kindle Fire.

Sejumlah pengamat teknologi mengatakan kondisi ini membuat Google khawatir karena pengguna makin sering memanfaatkan tablet untuk menjelajah internet.

Jika Apple dan Amazon menjadi kekuatan yang dominan, mereka bisa membuat sistem operasi tersendiri yang menggeser layanan yang selama ini menjadi layanan unggulan Google.

Dianggap Contek iPad, Penjualan Galaxy Tab 10.1 Dihentikan

Kompas.com - Teknologi yang digunakan Samsung, baik di ponsel maupun tablet, terus dipermasalahkan oleh Apple.

Kali ini yang kena getahnya adalah tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Dalam sebuah pengadilan, seorang hakim memerintahkan Samsung untuk menghentikan sementara penjualan tablet tersebut di AS, pada Selasa (26/6/2012).

Perintah ini dikeluarkan hakim berkaitan dengan tuntutan Apple yang menganggap Galaxy Tab 10.1 telah mencontek iPad.

Apple mengklaim tablet buatan Samsung tersebut menggunakan paten desain yang sama dengan yang digunakan tablet besutan mereka.

Hakim distrik AS, Lucy Koh, mengatakan bahwa atas tuntutan ini, kemungkinan besar Apple akan menang.

Pada pengadilan sebelumnya, Koh mengatakan bahwa dua produk tersebut (iPad dan Galaxy Tab 10.1) "hampir tidak bisa dibedakan". Namun waktu itu (Desember 2011), ia menolak untuk mengeluarkan perintah penghentian penjualan Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Atas saran pengadilan banding federal yang juga sedang menangani kasus paten Apple dan Samsung, Koh mengubah keputusannya.

"Samsung memiliki hak untuk berkompetisi. Namun, mereka tidak memiliki hak untuk bersaing secara tidak adil, membanjiri pasar dengan produk yang melanggar," tulis Koh. Dia mengatakan bahwa Apple akan dirugikan jika penjualan Galaxy Tab 10.1 terus berlanjut.

Pihak Samsung mengatakan kecewa atas keputusan pengadilan ini.

"Kami akan mengambil langkah hukum yang diperlukan dan tidak mengharapkan bahwa keputusan itu memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap kelangsungan bisnis kami karena kami memiliki beragam produk Galaxy Tab," menurut Samsung dalam sebuah pernyataan.

Keputusan itu adalah bagian kecil dari pertempuran paten yang lebih besar di antara dua raksasa teknologi tersebut. Kedua pihak dijadwalkan untuk bertemu di pengadilan bulan depan.

Apple to Launch Low-Priced iPhone for $350

Foxnews.com - We know these next-generation iPhone rumors have been out of control (aren’t they every year right before a new iPhone is slated to be released?), but we just received some new information from an incredibly solid source of ours. According to our source, Apple will indeed be launching a prepaid / lower cost iPhone this year.

We are told the handset will retail for no more than $350 without contract. Ready for the really interesting part? It’s entirely possible that the low-cost iPhone will in fact be the iPhone 3GS.

We reported that we were able to independently confirm that the iPhone 5 featured a radical new design, however this source of ours isn’t quite sure that will be the next iPhone.

Whether it’s the iPhone 4S or 5, it will be coming out or “at least announced by the end of Summer, late August-ish.”

They theorized that we’d have seen new 3rd party cases by now if the upcoming iPhone featured a different exterior, though Apple has surely been cracking down on their case specification leaks.

If this turns out to be true, it will mean there would be an iPhone 4S in addition to the prepaid iPhone 3GS available within the next month to two. Let’s do one better, though.

In addition to that news, we are told that Apple will continue to sell the current iPhone 4 as well, finally giving the company a full range of devices in the lower, mid, and high-end price segments.

Coupled with rumored launches on Sprint and T-Mobile in the U.S. alone, Apple seems prepared to once again take charge and lead in the smartphone market.

iPhone Apps for the Lawbreaker in You

You're driving along the highway, maybe exceeding the speed limit, when your iPhone calls out to you: "Police often hide here."

Glancing at the phone, you see a road map that pinpoints your exact location and, very close to it, an icon of a police car. It's time to ease the pedal from the metal.

This is why you've downloaded "Trapster," one of several "apps" — programs available for the Apple iPhone — that can help users get a leg up on the law.

If you're a blackjack player, there's an iPhone app you can use to count cards — a neat little trick that will help you beat the odds in a casino.

One added feature is that it can also can help you obtain a room in a Nevada prison and stay free for six years. (It isn't illegal to count cards, but it's illegal in Nevada to use a device to count cards.)

If you're a marijuana smoker, yet another app will show you where you can find it and buy it — with a doctor's prescription, of course.

The most popular of these apps is "Trapster," with 1.5 million users. The free program uses the GPS receiver built into new iPhones to track a driver's location and warn of nearby speed traps and red light cameras. It's also available for phones running Google Android and some BlackBerries.

Drivers can add new locations to the app by hitting buttons to mark speed traps and red light cameras for other drivers. Users can also rate the accuracy of speed trap reports, which helps weed out fake inputs.

The app potentially can help users speed or run lights more often. Nonetheless, police are largely supportive of Trapster, because they hope it will get users to slow down.

"Anything that gets people to slow down on the highway, or drive in a more responsible manner, is a good thing," said Corinne Geller, public relations manager for the Virginia State Police.

She said the state itself uses that logic to announce some red light cameras and speed-limit enforcement areas.

"We don't hide," Geller said.

Radar detectors are illegal in many states, but the iPhone app is perfectly legal because it doesn't actually detect a radar signal. It simply relies on user input to pinpoint spots where police often hide to catch speeders.

In Washington, D.C., Police Chief Cathy Lanier was quoted earlier this month in the Washington Examiner saying that using Trapster was a "cowardly tactic" to avoid police.

But a D.C. police spokeswoman says the chief was misquoted, and the department has no opinion on the application.

She also noted that a list of the District's red-light cameras is publicly available on its Web site.

Trapster's creator, Pete Tenereillo, says that he hopes the application will get drivers to slow down.

"It's a possibility that someone would use it to try to speed up between speed traps," he said. "But honestly, this is user-generated content, and I don't know how many people would be that confident that the only speed traps are the ones that are marked in Trapster. I would love it if they were."

If you can avoid running through red lights and getting stopped for speeding, you can drive to your local casino and fire up another iPhone app — "A Black Jack Card Counter," a $4.99 program that has gaming institutions on edge.

The app allows users to record the cards played and includes a "stealth mode" that turns the screen off while allowing users to continue hitting the buttons to record cards.

It has the potential to make users a lot of money.

"If you stick to the basic strategy for blackjack, the house has a small advantage," the program's creator, Travis Yates, writes in the program's description. "But if you can keep count of the number of high and low ranked cards in the pack, you can gain a small advantage.... This small advantage, around 1%, over a long period of time can result in huge wins."

But there is a downside.

"I would not recommend using this app in a casino as you could get into a lot of trouble," Yates writes.

In Nevada, for instance, using an electronic device to keep track of cards played in a casino is a category B felony with a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine, as outlined here.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board sent a letter earlier this year warning casinos in the state of the app's existence.

Jerry Markling, chief of the Nevada Gaming Control Board's enforcement division, told FOXNews.com that nobody has been prosecuted for using the app.

He added that the program's stealth mode "certainly makes one wonder what the real intent is," but he said that he would not fault Apple for allowing the program, given that it could have uses outside of a casino.

Other iPhone applications called "Cannabis" and "iPot” help users find medical marijuana dispensaries.

The Cannabis program also lists local advocacy groups and lawyers — a feature that could come in handy since all marijuana, even in states that allow its use for medical purposes, is illegal under federal law.

But it's easy to violate, as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says he has no plans to prosecute marijuana dispensaries operating legally under state laws.

Users certainly have no trepidation about posting their comments on Apple's forums.

Designer Thomas O'Connor has come up with a concept to join the legions of goofy USB flash drives with this charming USB Floppy Drive. Take one of those floppy disks granpappy's always going on about, hollow it out, stuff it with some flash storage and a USB dongle and you've got a "sustainable" and nostalgic USB drive. It looks to be a mere concept right now, but I bet an enterprising modder could whip one of these up in no time.

Spy Camera Watch Looks Like it May Actually Be Good For Spying

Forget those naff spy pens: This spy camera watch from Brando may actually be a decent spying gizmo. For example... can you see the camera in the photo of it? It's in the whorl of the numeral 2, and the watch is pretty convincing. It only shoots 352 x 288 pixel AVIs, but it does carry 2GB aboard, so that should be good for a whole bunch of sneaky vids, and its rechargeable batteries get juice from a USB connection. Just cover up that USB port with a sticker or plug of some kind so it's less obvious, and spy away. Presumably it also tells the time, but that's curiously not mentioned on Brando's web page.
